Common Eland

The Common Eland, also called the Eland Antelope, is a very large antelope. It is remarkably agile for its size and can leap high in the air when disturbed. They are often found in large herds.

The coat is brown (greying with age) with thin white stripes across part of the body. It also has a large dewlap on the throat tufted with hair. Both sexes have horns with one or two spirals.

It has a lifespan of about 15 - 20 years.
