Leopard

Panthera pardus

Size: Up to 70cm high
Habitat: Savanna and forest
Feeding: Small antelopes, other mammals, reptiles, insects, birds

The Leopard is a very elusive animal, so much so that I have never managed a good photo. They are solitary animals and mostly nocturnal.

One of the big cats of Africa, it can run at high speed, climb trees and swim. Its coat is yellow/cream with rosette patterns on its back and black spots on the underparts. It has a very long tail with a white tip on the underside.

It has a lifespan of 12 - 15 years.

These photos were taken in the Masai Mara, Kenya.
