Tree Squirrel

Paraxerus cepapi

Size: Up to 35cm long including the tail
Habitat: Grassland and savannah
Feeding: Mostly vegetarian but will also take insects

The Tree Squirrel is also known as Smith's Bush Squirrel or Yellow-footed Squirrel. They are mostly found in family groups.

The colour varies depending on their location. The coat can be brown or grey and the underparts are white. They have the long furry tail, a distinctive hallmark of the squirrel.
