The Black-headed Weaver, also called the Yellow-backed Weaver, is a yellow bird with a black head and bib. The eye is red. The colours are more muted outside the breeding season.
It is a gregarious bird, usually found in large flocks.
These photos were taken in the Selous National Park, Tanzania. The first shows a male weaver at the intricate spherical nest it has built from grass.
