Black Heron

Egretta ardesiaca

Size: 42 - 66 cm high
Habitat: Lakes and coastal waters
Feeding: Small fish and aquatic insects

As one of the Egret family, the Black Heron is sometimes called a Black Egret.

It is very distinctive when fishing because it forms its wings into an "umbrella" to attract fish into the shade.

Its feathers are black and it has yellow feet.
