Black-winged Stilt

Himantopus himantopus

Size: Up to 36 cms long
Habitat: Marshes and lakes
Feeding: Insects and crustaceans

The Black-winged Stilt, also called, Common Stilt, is a medium-sized wading bird. It has black and white plummage, long pink legs and a long very thin beak. The amount of black plummage on the head tends to vary between males and females and even by season.

Immature birds are brown/grey on the head and neck.
