Eurasian Bee-eater

Merops apiaster

Size: Up to 29 cm
Habitat: Grassland, woodland and lake shores
Feeding: Flying insects such as bees, wasps, butterflies

This bird is very colourful with a red/chestnut crown and back, a yellow throat, black stripe through the eye, blue belly and green tail.

Most of the Bee-eater species are gregarious and are usually seen in large groups.
