Green-backed Heron

Butorides striatus

Size: Up to 50 cm high
Habitat: Close to water - swamps, lakes, rivers
Feeding: Small fish, frogs, insects

The Green-backed heron is also called the Striated Heron or Little Heron.

It has a blue-grey back and wings, a black head and yellow eyes. It has a white chest with an orange/brown stripe. The legs are yellow.
