Marsh Sandpiper

Tringa stagnatilis

Size: Up to 26 cms long
Habitat: Marshes, swamps and wetlands
Feeding: Small invertebrates and insects

The Marsh Sandpiper is a migratory wading bird which over-winters in Africa.

It is brown/grey in colour with white underparts. It has a long grey beak and yellowish legs.

The Marsh Sandpiper is very similar to a Greenshank, but the Sandpiper is slightly smaller with a narrower beak and the legs are more yellow.
