The African Open-billed Stork, also called the African Openbill, is a different species to the one found in Asia.
Its plummage is black and it has a long grey/brown bill. The most distinctive feature in the adult is the open bill which can be seen in the second photo. This is designed to extract snails and other molluscs from their shells.
These photos were taken at the Lebala Safari Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
