Three-banded Plover

Charadrius tricollaris

Size: Up to 18 cms long
Habitat: Near water
Feeding: Insects and invertebrates

The Three-banded Plover, is a small wading bird. The wings and crown are brown and the underparts white. It is distinguished by the three bands across the breast, two dark and the other white.

The beak is red with a black tip and it has a distinctive red eye-ring.

The sexes are very similar.
