The Banded Mongoose is similar to the Dwarf Mongoose but bigger and with a darker, banded coat. It has a pointed head, small ears and a long tail.
They are gregarious animals living in social groups and their favourite habitat is a termite mound.
They stand upright, like Meercats, when they are alarmed or looking for other in their pack.
It has a lifespan of 10 - 12 years.
The first photo was taken in the Masai Mara, Kenya and the second in the Serengeti, Tanzania.
